You are searching for something. You might not know what it is you need. You may not even consciously realize you are looking for something.
But sometimes you catch your eye drifting; you feel the pull of longing in your chest late at night.
You are not looking for any book I have written, that is not why I beckon you closer. You are looking for something much bigger, something life-altering that no one can sell you.
There is no one who can give you what you’re looking for because it isn’t so much an object as it is a destination. It isn’t so much a destination as it is a journey. It isn’t so much a journey as it is a way of life. It isn’t so much a way of life as it is something to believe in.
You are searching for God, whether or not you realize it.
You may be looking for an end to the guilt from mistakes made long ago. You may be searching for justice that was never delivered by the people who wronged you. You may be searching for a spark of inspiration to revitalize a life devoid of purpose. You may be looking for a place to belong. You may be looking for a lifeline. You may be looking for love like no other.
Maybe you’ve already found God or have known Him all your life and still find yourself wondering what’s wrong with you, why it doesn’t make sense yet, why the journey never reaches a destination, why you are under attack, why you still feel lost.
Though we all search for the same thing, the God of the universe, your story is unique to you.
I hope you enjoy the stories I have to share.
Erica M Nickels writes about imperfect people serving a perfect God — imperfectly. She believes all are loved by the author of the universe. When not living in a daydream, she resides in the shadow of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.
